DESCRIPTION
-------------------------------------------------
Chokepoint Mountain is a forest/jungle map I decided to make in light of the fact that most multiplayer maps lack chokepoints,
allowing the AI to make beelines for resource points and ignore combat. This map has a single path connecting each bases, making it
impossible for the AI to walk through or past your army without at least chopping down some of the trees first. The foliage blocking terrain
and the ability to remove it makes it so each time you play might be different with the territory changing shape.
BUGS/ISSUES
-------------------------------------------------
*Minimap in playlist lacks icons and loading screen is all messed up
-I spent all of New Year's Eve trying to figure out how to fix this. Don't bother me about fixing this unless you're
giving me advice on how to get it to work, seeing as there was NO tutorials or documents covering how to do it.
*Map borders are too close to the edge
-This is more of a nitpick than a flaw that will interfere with your ability to play the map. I realized I screwed up
the map border size, making it easy to see thee edge of the map. I'm used to mapping for the original Dawn of War where
the playable border was always too far away from the edge to see it. I just don't feel like remaking the entire map, as I spent
months tirelessly working on this map to remake it now.
*Disappearing resource point
-I tried adding a resource point hidden in teh forest, but it disappears when approached and is uncapturable. It's the same as all
the other resource points, so I have no clue why this happened when the Power Node and Victory Point in the forest work just fine.
INSTALLATION
-------------------------------------------------
The name of the map is 6pcm.sga and this needs to go to your mods folder in GameAssets.

PERMISSIONS
---------------------------------------------------
You are permitted to use this map in any map pack (by this I mean to archive it along with other maps)
or upload it to your own site (should you be running a DoW2 map site for example). HOWEVER, you must
supply this readme *unaltered* along with the map (if it is being supplied on its own), Should you be
packaging my map with other maps in an archive I expect to be credited (KommissarReb) in any readme supplied
with the archive. Should you be doing anything, including the above, with this map I also expect to be
informed, you may do so via the forum thread supplied earlier in this readme under "DESCRIPTION" or by
PM on those forums.
Hey man, I know this wasn't easy to make so thanks for your work. Me and my mates love the game but sometimes we just want to watch Tyranids go "pop". Cheers!
Much appreciated! I hope you guys enjoyed my maps.
Mapping in Dawn of War 2 is significantly harder than Dawn of War 1, but I think it's worth trying to make the most out of this game. Dawn of War 2 introduced a lot of cool things like Tyranids and different Chaos factions (Undivided and too much emphasis on Khorne was a downside to the original DoW). Feel free to let me know what you'd like to see in the future!
Any chance you'll make a winter version of the "Dans la Breche" map featured in the Maps of War collection? We could use a proper, true to the original into the breach map.
Dans la Breche is surprisingly lackluster if you play in spectator mode (with just bots playing) and closely examine the map itself. That being said, I wouldn't mind making a winter map that is inspired by "Into the Breach". I just wouldn't expect an exact copy. I like having the liberty to make adjustments where I think it's necessary for optimal gameplay and not needing to constantly look at another map for reference.
On a side note, does anyone know how to make minimaps? After two years I still don't know how as there's NO documentation on it or anybody who seems to know who's willing to explain how that works.
Of course, you're allowed the liberty to do whatever adjustments you want. I just hope if you consider making a "into the breach" style map you keep the single chokepoint, that's the most important aspect.
I have no idea, but you could join the Elite Mod discord and ask there. Wisewindu could help you out.
I'll make sure to ask him next time I get on Discord. Fortunately, "Into the Breach" is a fairly simple map design. Do you want it shaped like in Winter Assault, or more optimized for Dawn of War II? Reason I ask is Dawn of War II limits your ability to defend resources way more than Dawn of War 1 did.
Well, first off It doesn't need to adhere 100% to the original, but the chokepoint should definitely be as close to the original as possible. It should at least be 2v2, maybe 3v3 if you make it a bit bigger than usual.
There should at least be 2 power points and 4 req points on either side of the map. Maybe one power point in the middle? Each player could have access to 3 starting turrets, 2 near the base and 1 near the chokepoint. The map should look like it has already been fought over, so placing barricades and other obstructions here and there would enhance the atmosphere. Maybe add a huge crater in the middle chokepoint?
These are my suggestions/ideas, but otherwise do as you please. Just keep the chokepoint close to the original, you'll figure out the rest.
