I always liked upscaling the sprites with HQ2x or similar in GZDOOM, but that affects Gore as well and when you do heavy slaughters it tends to lag a lot, so I made these.
Only weapons are upscaled.
Means that gore, smoke, particles and effects stay untouched.
Load After Brutal Doom v21 Gold, is only intended to work with the sprites that originally came with the mod, anything else wont work at all.
Warning: phones or potato computers might experience a slight decrease on FPS and increase on MS everytime you use the weapon for the first time, this will repeat after you start a new level.

Any chance for upscaled map textures too?
Do you mean textures from the map enhancement script? That would be nice when using a HD texture pack so all textures will be HD.
Yeah, thats what i think too! A whole upscaled thing, guns, itens, monsters and map textures/enhancements
There have some mods that enchanting textures and weapons, E.G: beautiful doom.
Doom and Doom II textures? There are already HD Texture Packs around, DHTP is the most known.
Yeah, hd textures are around, i replied to someone else also asking for them.
Higher quality guns though is something I've been looking for!

I'm curious what program did you use to upscale the sprites? They're some i'd like to do myself. I'm using ImageResizer and any time I apply the desired effect the image looks good but it is not in proper pixel size. I'm basically trying to add on the desired effect of say HQ2X but still keeping the pixel size if that makes sense.

This is great. Now if only there was a
mod to upscale the items and monsters too. You can use hrrp doom which does give you hd armour and health pickups as well as some of the ammo pickups, but not all of them and it doesn't affect the monsters
The sprites looks great! I've been searching for some kind of HD upscale of the Brutal Doom's wapons since I've discovered DHTP. The only piece left from full-HD doom is HD deamons sprites. Brutal Doom has added frames to the original animations, so that's why I can't use the DooM - HD Monsters.pk3. Do you think that you can head into upscaling the BD deamons too? It would be absolutely awesome :)
I already tried, but thats a bit more complicated than Weapons, not all sprites look that good.
Still It would be great to have a set of those sprites.
Hello, just to let you know I did publish a restored version of the V21 minigun sprites here : Moddb.com
It was mostly the removal of transparent / partially transparent pixels and also brightness issues of some metal parts...
(But there was no brightmaps included at the time of these edits)
I've been trying to add Brutal Doom HD Sprites (v21 Gold) to a batch file that I created, but I can't get it to run. It will only run for me when I drop the file onto gzdoom.exe. I Also added .pk3 to the end of the file name as well to see if that was the problem, but that was a no go as well. Any pointers that could help me add the mod correctly to my batch file?
So I figured out what the problem was. The file name "Doom HD Sprites (v21 Gold).pk3" cannot be used. I had to change the name of the file so that there are no spaces. I just crammed it all together like this: "DoomHDSprites(v21 Gold).pk3". It makes sense now why I've seen files with under scores.

Will this work with Dox's version of Brutal Doom? He still uses the same weapons in his version of the mod, with most changes being done to the gun's secondary fire while the sprites look the same more or less.
Dox Addon is outdated, I already made an addon for Brutal Doom Platinum which is the succesor of Dox Addon.
