PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION! INSTUCTIONS TEXT FILE IN ZIP IS OUTDATED. This ZIP file contains what you will need in order to get AoTR working with GameRanger
Thanks to Brabox, the original author, for making this tool and allowing us to use it!
1. Extract the new lotrbfme2ep1.exe file into the AOTR4.0 folder
2. Launch GameRanger
3. Go to Edit - Options - ROTWK - Browse... - navigate to your new .exe file
4. Before launching the game, unhook ROTWK from T3A if you use it. The T3A launcher conflicts with the one from GameRanger.
5. When you launch as host for the first time a new window will appear. Set the settings to the following:
Game Executable: navigate to the location of your vanilla ROTWK lotrbfme2ep1.exe (default location is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king\lotrbfme2ep1.exe")
Extra flags: -mod "C:\Program Files (x86)\AOTR4.0\aotr" - This is if you installed AOTR to the default installer path. If it is located elsewhere, the easiest way of finding the right path is to go to your shortcut and copying the -mod command.
6. Go to Network and play
If the game doesn't launch, run the start up fixer provided here: Moddb.com
And then use the 2.02 launcher to change your resolution back.
You are a godsend, thanks so much!
So uhm does this help stability in game when playing mp
No Roth, this just allows you to play online with friends... good guess though buddy.
I also have a tendency of talking to myself as well.
hahaha, well I asked a stupid question... who better to answer than the idiot who asked lol.
Sure is a sight to see,When Saruman admit it himself. lol
Thank you :)
Been having the issue with the game not starting, tried the resolution fixes but they don't seem to work (running the game at 1024x768). Has anyone else found any other workarounds?
lost of synch
I just can't seem to get this to work, I have Windows 10, my options.ini is fine, but it will not even begin to load. I click Start Game and nothing happens, any suggestions?

can someone please help me i have the game i have the mod and gameranger but when i put the -mod command it doesn't start
I am able to play the game, but whenever I try to play it in GameRanger, only the main menu opens, but I am not in the lobby. Does this patch work with the newest mods?
I've got the same problem. I think it is because of the 8.3 patch which changed the direct startup to be moved to the AOTR options menu.
I'm not completely sure though, so hopefully someone else can confirm this.
Hi, when I try to open lotrbfme2ep1.exe, it opens up the old 2.02 patch game and not age of the ring. Also, the target on my aotr shortcut links to an exe file not the same one as in the pic. I can’t remember the name of the file but options was in the name and know that’s odd but it opens the game not going through gameranger fine. Have I got something installed incorrectly. I extracted the game ranger zip into the aotr folder. Thanks for any help.
Followed all the steps I would say correctly. I'm trying to play with my brother with me hosting, and everything first appeared to work smoothly, as AotR launches from the GameRange lobby, and my brother even gets the path pop up for him to launch it too after I made the lobby, however, when he actually presses the Start button on his end, the game just won't launch for him. Any ideas why this may be? We both did the exact same steps together. Thank you in advance.
